SWIPE Circadian Nutrition Programme

SWIPE is The Healing Wheel's signature circadian nutrition programme. It aligns when you eat (your eating window, meal timing and light and sleep habits) with your body's internal clock. The goal is better blood sugar, hormones, digestion and sleep. It is personalised by Sadaf Sajid, a trained circadian rhythm specialist.

Why does timing matter?

Your body runs on a roughly 24-hour clock. Insulin sensitivity is usually higher in the morning and lower late at night, so the same meal can raise blood sugar more at 11 pm than at 1 pm. In Pakistan, late dinners, midnight chai and irregular shift hours are common, and they push the body clock out of sync. That is linked with weight gain, poor sleep and worse glucose control.

What the SWIPE programme includes

  1. Clock assessment: your sleep and wake times, meal times, light exposure, work shifts and energy dips.
  2. A personal eating window: often 10–12 hours to start, matched to your routine. It is not extreme fasting.
  3. Front-loaded meals: a bigger breakfast or lunch and a lighter, earlier dinner.
  4. Light and sleep habits: morning daylight, evening screen routines and caffeine cut-off times.
  5. Food quality: a balanced desi plate, because timing works best with good food.
  6. Gradual progression: reviewed at follow-ups and adapted for Ramadan, travel and weddings.

Who benefits most?

Is SWIPE the same as intermittent fasting?

No. Intermittent fasting usually focuses on long fasts. SWIPE focuses on aligning meals with daylight and your biology, often with a moderate window and no skipped nutrition. Some people use a shorter window. Others simply move their meals earlier.

Who should not use restricted eating windows

Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, with a history of eating disorders, with type 1 diabetes or on insulin or sulfonylureas without medical supervision, or who is underweight. Sadaf screens for these first.

Who has SWIPE helped?

SWIPE is most useful for insulin resistance, PCOS, prediabetes and weight-loss plateaus, and for people who work late. It is always combined with a balanced desi plate, never used as a fasting shortcut.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to eat dinner?

For most people, finishing dinner 2–3 hours before bed, ideally by 8 pm, supports better sleep and overnight blood sugar. Your SWIPE plan sets a time that fits your routine.

Does meal timing really affect weight loss?

Studies suggest that eating earlier in the day and within a consistent window can improve insulin sensitivity and help some people eat less. Total diet quality and calories still matter most.

Can I follow SWIPE if I work night shifts?

Yes. The programme is adapted to shift patterns, with a consistent eating window and light strategies to reduce body-clock disruption.

Aksar Pooche Jane Wale Sawalat (Roman Urdu)

Raat ka khana kab khana chahiye?

Behtar hai ke sone se 2–3 ghante pehle, aur mumkin ho to 8 baje tak, raat ka khana kha liya jaye.

Kya SWIPE roza ya intermittent fasting jaisa hai?

Nahi. SWIPE ka maqsad khane ke auqaat ko jism ki ghari ke mutabiq karna hai, lambe faaqe zaroori nahi.
